PrizePicks Today: Best MLB Player Projections for Wednesday (6/14)
Welcome to the MLB PrizePicks video from Odd Shopper, where we provide you with the best player projections for today’s games. Yesterday’s performance was close but not perfect, as we finished with a record of four wins and two losses. Although we didn’t achieve a flawless record, we made progress towards our goal. Nolan Arenado exceeded his projected fantasy points, and we had successful picks with Torres, France, and Harper. With a 4-2 record, we’re on the right track for long-term success. So let’s dive into today’s picks and aim for an even better outcome.
Now, let’s move on to today’s six picks. While our goal is to achieve a perfect record, we’ll be satisfied with a 4-2 outcome.
1. Brian De La Cruz – Under
We’ll start with Brian De La Cruz of the Marlins, who has previously been featured in our videos. Today, the Marlins face Luis Castillo of the Mariners, a high-end starter with a projected fifth of 3.6. It’s a righty-righty matchup, and the Marlins have a three-run implied total. With the line set at 6.5, I have De La Cruz projected to go under 5.5, hitting the under 69% of the time. This looks like a fantastic spot to take the under on Brian De La Cruz.
2. Luis Arias – Under
Next, we have Luis Arias of the Marlins. Although not as confident in this pick as with De La Cruz, I still like it. Arias has a 59% chance to go under his projection. In this lefty-righty matchup against Luis Castillo, the Marlins have a three-run total. While the line is set at 6.5, my projection is 6.6, indicating an under 59% of the time. Remember, this distribution is not normal, so even a slight difference in the line can still lead to a successful under pick.
3. Corbin Carroll – Under
Moving on, we have Corbin Carroll of the Diamondbacks. Although this pick didn’t work out well the last time we chose it, we’re going back to it today. The Diamondbacks are facing Ranger Suarez of the Phillies, and although they’re at home, Suarez is an above-average pitcher with a projected fifth of 3.95. Carroll, a lefty hitter, performs worse against left-handed pitchers. While there’s a bit more offense expected in this game with a 4.7 run implied total, the line is set at nine, and my projection for Carroll is 7.9. This suggests that he goes under 66% of the time. So, we’ll take a chance on Corbin Carroll going under his projection.
4. Rafael Devers – Over
Shifting our focus to over picks, we have Rafael Devers of the Red Sox. Despite facing Austin Gomber of the Rockies in a lefty-lefty matchup, Devers is an incredible hitter. The Red Sox have a 5.6 run implied total, but the line is set at seven and a half, which doesn’t align well with this run environment. With my projection at 10, Devers is expected to go over 57% of the time. Don’t underestimate Devers’ abilities in this spot.
5. Yandy Diaz – Over
Now, let’s discuss Yandy Diaz of the Rays. Although the offensive game environment in Oakland is not the best, the Rays are facing Luis Medina of the A’s, who has a terrible projected fifth of 4.9. Despite it being a righty-righty matchup, the Rays have a 5.5 run implied total. Diaz is an incredible hitter with a projected 0.373 wOBA. The line is set at seven and a half, which doesn’t align with the Rays’ 5.5 run implied total. With a projection of 9.9, Diaz is expected to go over 63% of the time. So, we’re confident in Diaz’s ability to exceed his projection.
6. Wander Franco – Over
Lastly, we have Wander Franco, another player from the Rays. In the same matchup against Luis Medina, Franco is a switch hitter who will be batting from the left side. The Rays have a 5.5 run implied total, and the line is set at eight and a half. With my projection at 10.7, Franco is expected to go over 60% of the time. Considering the run environment and the potential for more plate appearances, we feel confident in Franco’s ability to exceed his projection.
So, those are our six picks for today. We have three unders and three overs, making it an exciting day with plenty to cheer for. Remember to hit the like button, sign up at PrizePicks to access the Odd Shopper Pick’em package, and stay tuned for more videos. Good luck with your picks!
